More Than a Place to Stay…
Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) of Western Washington & Alaska owns and operates the Seattle Ronald McDonald House, which provides a caring “home-away-from-home” for families of seriously ill children who are receiving treatment at nearby Children’s Hospital and Regional Medical Center.
Our Families
Families who stay at the Seattle Ronald McDonald House live at least 60 miles away from Children’s Hospital. Most families come from Washington, Alaska, Montana and Idaho. Our goal is to keep families together during this difficult time and we often see patients, parents, siblings and extended family staying at the House. Stays often extend from several months to more than a year.

The House
Our House is an anchor for families, often for many months. It offers:
- An individual room with a private bath
- An immediate support system of other families staying at the House, dedicated staff members
and community volunteers
- A communal kitchen, dining facilities, pantry and laundry room.
- Close proximity to Children’s Hospital and Regional Medical Center
- House activities including meals, movies, arts and crafts and local outings
Your Support Matters
In 2007 the Seattle Ronald McDonald House provided 24,531 nights of housing to 1,185 families.. While the cost per night to house a family is $80, the suggested payment is just $20 per night. Most families are struggling financially and more than half qualify for Medicaid. Your support is vital as it allows us to accept all families, regardless of their ability to pay.
