U.S. NAVY BLUE ANGELS RETURN FOR SEAFAIR 2010 & 2011! Christmass Comes Early!
Media Alert FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE The U.S. Navy Blue Angels Flight Demonstration Squadron will return to the skies above Lake Washington as the featured performer at the KeyBank Air Show at Seafair presented by Boeing this coming summer and in 2011. The 2010 air show takes place in conjunction with the Seafair Unlimited Hydroplane Race, August 6-8 on Lake Washington. The announcement of the two-year schedule was made at the International Council of Air Shows (ICAS) conference, Monday in Las Vegas, Nevada. “Seafair is thrilled to have the U.S. Navy Blue Angels back for the 2010 festival,” Beth Knox, President & CEO of Seafair said. “They are a true tradition in the Pacific Northwest and the highlight of an action-packed Seafair Weekend.” The Blue Angels’ mission is to enhance Navy and Marine Corps recruiting efforts and to represent the naval service to the United States, its elected leadership and foreign nations. The Blue Angels serve as positive role models and goodwill ambassadors for the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps. The Blue Angels flew 69 air shows at 35 air show sites in the United States during the 2009 season, as the team celebrated 23 years of flying the F/A-18 Hornet. Last season, more than 13 million spectators watched the Blue Angels perform. Since its inception in 1946, the Blue Angels have performed for more than 455 million fans. Seafair depends on corporate sponsorship dollars and ticket purchases to fund its’ events and does not receive government funding to offset expenses. Seafair provides numerous free events throughout the calendar year including the Milk Carton Derby, Torchlight Parade, Holiday Cruise for disabled adults, Seafair Scholarship Program for Women and Seafair High School Ambassador Program, in addition to its annual Hydroplane Race and Air Show. ### |
